タイトル:Isospin dynamics in heavy ion reactions
講演概要:
Werner Heisenberg proposed the concept of isospin, adapting the same mathematics as ordinary spin, to describe the symmetry of neutron and proton collectively called nucleons. In neutron-rich environment in heavy ion reactions, the isovector sector of nuclear potential acts on neutrons and protons differently, leading to different transport behavior of these two components in the collisions, known as isospin dynamics. In turn, the studies on isospin dynamics shed light on the properties of nuclear symmetry energy, of which the density dependence is still poorly known despite of large progress in the last two decades. Naturally, it is essential to investigate the isospin dynamics before one can constrain stringently the nuclear symmetry energy as a function of density. In this talk, I will introduce the experimental studies on the transport of isospin degree of freedom in heavy ion reactions carried on the compact spectrometer of heavy ion experiment (CSHINE). The future plan of deuteron-induced reactions will also be introduced.
Prof. Zhigang Xiao graduated from Beijing Normal University in 1995 with a bachelor's degree in physics. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Institute of Modern Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2001. He worked at GSI and Heidelberg University with the FOPI collaboration before joining the Department of Physics, Tsinghua University as a tenure-track assistant professor in 2007. He was promoted to full professorship with tenure in 2017. He published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and won the Yu-Hsun Woo Prize issued by the Chinese Physical Society in 2019.
